Pan World Productions is a registered company operating in Montreal, Quebec specializing in the production and sale of steelband instruments. The firm possesses a novel technique, developed by Mr. James Andrews, the president, for the manufacture of pans of a consistent quality in relatively high volume.

Mr. Andrews, a native of Trinidad and Tobago, has been resident in Canada for several years, He came to Canada as tuner and arranger of the official band of the Trinidad and Tobago Government at the International Exposition in Montreal in 1967. He has been associated with the steelband movement for over thirty five years and is a tuner and arranger of international repute. He has supplied pans to many of the major orchestras in the Caribbean, the United States and Canada as well as to those individual musicians who play solo pan.

Many schools across Canada are establishing bands of steel instruments. They require instruments, training and support. Pan World has been involved with providing instruments for such bands for some time as well as teaching the technique of playing the instruments. The Institute is involved also in teaching individuals who, although not part of a band, wish to learn to play pans for their own satisfaction or as part of a portfolio of skill geared to professional performance. Unlike many players whose teaching skills are limited to simply teaching the student to play particular tunes, the Institute believes in a structured approach to learning the instrument. This approach enables the student to become familiar with the capacity and range of the instrument which then permits its use in a creative manner. The distinction is between learning to play the instrument and learning the instrument. The teaching is an integral part of the strategic plan of the company for in addition to the income from the immediate sale of pans, such contracts set the stage for an increased demand for pans from students who begin playing at school and continue later.
